We're being deported from Memorial Park by David Dyer.  Did you read this in the Houston Chronicle?  Your comments should be sent to the editor.  It will help them realize that this does matter!

News 24 Houston aired a story on the park's Master Plan.  The report is limited in that only the ACLU and Memorial Park Conservancy Board were interviewed.  The report incorrectly stated that the facilities would be relocated somewhere else within the Loop.  The latest is that they would be somewhere within the Beltway, not even within the loop.  Ask yourselves, where are they going to find a location that is reasonably close (and affordable) since people obviously like Memorial Park.  The ACLU noted that the Plan does not appear to be in favor of the citizens, but one to help the wealthy people living around the park.  Notice that there has not been any mention of removing the golf course or polo areas.

Wendy Grossman of the Houston Press printed an unbiased article presenting both sides.  "Last winter, bulldozers chopped down 41 trees at Memorial Park. Most people didn't have any idea why. City councilmembers didn't recall approving a plan to kill trees."  The Master Plan research team did not know about it either, otherwise it could have stopped the project and saved tax payers the money.  To learn more about the Master Plan and our efforts, click here to see the full story.
