Citizens Alliance Against The Memorial Park Master Plan
Memorial Park   Houston, Texas

Our Challenge:

Most Houstonians do not realize that Houston's Memorial Park will change, and we believe it will not be to the advantage of the Houston citizens.  There is a new Memorial Park Master Plan currently under development that proposes the removal of amenities that are widely used by the people.  "The conservancy is here to advise and we are here to make money but we do not make the final decision about anything that goes into the park," Claire Caudill from the Memorial Park Conservancy Board says (as reported by News 24 Houston).

Don't be tricked by the name.  The word "Conservancy" sound good and makes one feel like a nice charitable foundation.  It's not.  It is a corporation   So what are their interests?  It certainly cannot be the people.  So why would they spend more than an estimated $300,000 on this plan?  Good luck on getting an answer.  We have tried and evidently thousands of us are too ignorant to understand it - or are there other interests - whether personal or otherwise...  That would be a good reason for us to not understand!

When individual voices could not be heard The Citizens Alliance Against The Memorial Park Master Plan formed.  When this plan was to be presented to City Council by the cloak of darkness, we presented our case to City Council and the City of Houston's Neighborhood Protection & Quality of Life Committee.  We have been able to delay the injustice that can occur, but we know that another round is about to begin.

We have created a petition against items in the Memorial Park Master Plan, requesting that we keep all existing sports in Memorial Park and for the park to remain a multi-sport park.  Thus far we have obtained thousands of signatures, but need more.   Your support is important in case we must file a legal injunction to stop their activities.  Click here to add yourself to our petition!
