Systems
With so many computer Operating Systems on the market, which one
should you use. Unix, Linux, NT, Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows Tablet
Edition, Macintosh, and multiple others. The choice depends on your needs
and budget. This website is dedicated to helping people learn about the
Multiple Operating Systems in one Place. We realized that many people have
found it hard to find out information, which was difficult since they could not
go to one place. Now that can - Multiple Operation System Place -

Linux is continuing to grow. This is true in terms of
functionality and capability, as well as customer base. The prices are
wonderful, even free, and there is not good software available. If you are
worried that you won't know how to use it, especially those of you who use
Windows by Microsoft, don't worry. Just install the KDE shell and it will
look a lot like Windows. Some of our testers have been using Linux as a for production
Oracle servers and are reporting good results. They have had to learn to
tweak the server parameters, but once setup they are reporting good results.
Let us know if you have any tips and tricks related to the Oracle on Linux so
that we can publish them in our Q&A section.
Virtual NT/2K running under Linux? Sure. Our testers
are doing it and happy with the results. There were some instability
issues, but they seem to be much better. Our users have been testing the
common programs, like e-mail, word processing, print, networking, etc. Let
us know if you are doing the same or need more information.
Microsoft security and constant updates (bug fixes, security
patches, etc) are frustrating. Most users don't have time to update their
system weekly and reboot their systems. Additionally, it seems like we
hear of various issues after upgrades. For example, one of our test machines
running Windows 98 (since HP desktop machines are horrible and don't support
newer operating systems because HP elected to not upgrade their drivers) has a
major problem with operating system faults since the latest patches from
Microsoft. This leaves the users in a bad situation: does one leave their
machine unprotected against known security issues, or upgrade and suffer...
Windows ME has been one environment that we don't recommend.
We have encountered too many problems with it and it seems to be lacking in many
areas. Upgrade to XP if your hardware will support it.
Classic Unix servers are still playing a vital role in
corporations. They have continued to be dependable and very
functional. The issues is whether or not the companies can find the human
resources to fill the roles. So far they have, but for a while there were
not a lot of new Unix Administrators entering the marketplace.
